The Motor Build Entryway

Updated:

The entryway sets the tone for a home—it’s the first space guests experience and the perfect opportunity to make a statement. For this project, our clients wanted something bold, conversational, and textural. The result? A stunning combination of vibrant color, geometric dimension, and commissioned art that captures attention from the moment you step inside.

Color & Texture

The star of the space is undoubtedly the custom deep cobalt blue credenza. With its striking 3D geometric façade, it adds a sculptural element while providing practical storage. The intense blue hue carries over to the front door painted in Farrow and Ball’s “Cook’s Blue”, subtly tying the space together and making a seamless, impactful visual flow. Adding yet another texture and shape, we included two custom round leather ottomans flanking the sides of the entry console. These ottomans added a fun shape to soften the hard edges of the geometric pattern with additional seating for doing things like putting your shoes on or setting your bag down when you walk through the door.

The walls, kept in a Benjamin Moore’s “Simply White”, allow the furniture and artwork to take center stage. The soft, natural white oak flooring grounds the design of this home, adding warmth and balance to the bold color choices.

Custom Art

Above the credenza, the commissioned art piece by Kari Kroll brings an additional layer of movement and personality. The clients wanted a piece that felt fun and engaging—something that wouldn’t just sit on the wall but would be a true focal point. When we reached out to Kari to craft a diptych piece for this project we knew we wanted something bold but also muted. So, together we came up with an abstract composition of muted pinks, deep purples, warm yellows, and calming blues. Kari was brilliantly able to create this piece that plays with shape and form in a way that invites conversation.

Curated Accents

The styling is minimal yet intentional. A sculptural white bowl, a fun fat horse ceramic figurine, and curated stacks of books adds to the artistic ambiance. These elements keep the space feeling elevated and refined while still allowing for personality and practical use for a busy family.

By blending bold color, dynamic texture, and commissioned artwork, we created an environment that sparks curiosity and conversation—exactly what our clients envisioned.
